…and it sounds incredible! I suggest you buy it from Big Scary Monsters when it comes out on Friday.
Haven’t done one of these in a while. This afternoon I gave these guys a listen and so far I’m pretty impressed. Could be that I’m just feeling in the mood for some rawk today, I’m not sure. They’re working for me though. The band is called Fordamage and apparently have some kind of link to Fago Sepia and Pneu (who are also ace), but I’m not sure how. It could well be a lie. Anyway, they’re all good so give them a listen. They all have my stamp of approval ![]()
Hi,
So before we went to the States, we played some shows. One of those shows was in Sheffield, where we played with Pirouettes and Clever Girl. Both bands were great, and since then I have been informed that the latter have released an EP. You can download it from their myspace page and if you like it, you can donate a little bit of cash. I think that if you like Sweep the Leg Johnny, American Football and Colossal, you’re probably going to dig this a lot.
Speaking of Sheffield, we’re going to be playing a couple of festivals this weekend. The first is at Truck Festival, where we’ll be playing the Last.fm stage on Saturday at around 4.20 in the afternoon. The second will be on Sunday in Sheffield at Tramlines Festival. It is free and we will be on the New Music Stage at 5. We’ll be playing with Grammatics, Rolo Tomassi and Gallows. Should be fun.
See you swoon.

So it looks like our airline are back up and running, so fingers crossed we’ll still be flying out to Japan this weekend. This week has been a bit of a nightmare worrying about whether we’ll be going or not, and whilst we still have no guaruntees, it’s certainly looking a lot more positive
In other news, Zef’s Chasing Cara have another free EP available for download. It is pretty bloody good and if you enjoyed the first record, you won’t be dissapointed with the follow up.

Haven’t done one of these in a while, but I found this band whilst watching a trailer for a new Travis Bean Documentary that is currently in production (featuring interviews with Steve Albini and My Disco no less) and thought some of you might dig it. Anyway, I have no idea if they’re still playing as their myspace doesn’t look like it’s been updated since 2007. They’re called Arma Secreta and sound a bit like Burning Airlines. I like what I’ve heard so far. Listen to ‘Undressing Underwater’ first and use the free listening widget thing on their myspace. The sound quality is way better than the myspace music profile thing.
Haven’t done one of these in a while, so thought I’d give it a bash. Check these bands out, they’re dead good:
Marvins Revolt - I think this is the second time I’ve recommended these guys, but they have a new album coming out and I for one can’t wait to give it a spin. The tracks on their myspace sound sweeeeeeet!
Lisa Papineau - Sargent House’s latest signing I believe. Just gave her a listen this morning. Why bother with Florence and the Machine when this is sooooooo much better?
Tubelord - Just finished playing a bunch of gigs with these chaps and they’re ace!
Some of you may well be aware that bass player extraordinaire Jamie Cooper is also guitarist in Oxford post-math-rock-whatevs-it’s-just-bloody-good band Hreda. They’ve got a new 7″ (with CD) out that contains two songs “Dead Horses/Minnows”. To listen to the songs on the record go here. To buy the record, email the band at hreda@hotmail.co.uk

I think it’s £3/£4, and is a total bargain at either price. Jamie is also responsible for the rather lovely artwork as well. What a multi-talented young man he is!
Two bands that massively influenced us (well maybe just me) when we started out were The Jesus Years and The Little Explorer. Literally two of the best bands in the country at one stage. Unfortunately they both split up a few years ago, but now they’re back and I for one couldn’t be more excited. No recordings up on their page as yet, but they already have some shows booked for September/October. Can’t wait to see/hear what they’ve come up with:

So I heard this guys stuff a while back and asked him if he could support us in York on this last tour. Unfortunately it turns out it’s a solo project and he can’t play it all live. He really needs to get a live band together and fast…almost as much as you need to head over to his myspace page and download his EP for free. I’ve listened to precious little else over the last few days. It’s ace!
If you love Tera Melos, Giraffes? Giraffes! or anything a bit widdly, weird and wonderful then get on it!
