Thanks to everyone at Truck Festival

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Big thanks to everyone who came and packed out the ‘Village Pub’ stage for our set on Sunday. Apparently there were 300+ people inside the tent and more outside trying to get in. This was even more incredible when you consider that at the same time ‘Pulled Apart by Horses’ were playing in ‘The Barn’. We were particularly humbled by the reaction of those of you down the front, jumping, singing and crowd surfing along to the songs. Thank you for making it such a great gig for us. Here are some photo’s, if anyone has any more or even some video, please send it our way :-)

Baboon video

A good friend of ours (Charlotte Knight) who helped put together the ‘Panda’ video, recently offered to re-cut a film she worked on for an M83 competition. Here is the result:

‘Animals’ t-shirt now available to buy in America

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Thanks to the lovely people at Sargent House, you can now buy the ‘Animals’ design t-shirt for the princely sum of $16. Unlike their poor British counterparts, these cheeky young upstarts are printed on American Apparel (naturally), so look a bit snazzier.

If you want one, just click on the nice picture:

Get on this!

Two bands that massively influenced us (well maybe just me) when we started out were The Jesus Years and The Little Explorer. Literally two of the best bands in the country at one stage. Unfortunately they both split up a few years ago, but now they’re back and I for one couldn’t be more excited. No recordings up on their page as yet, but they already have some shows booked for September/October. Can’t wait to see/hear what they’ve come up with:

So things have been a bit quiet around here for a while huh?

Truth be told, we haven’t had much to report of late. We’ve just been hunkered down in the studio writing new stuff and when we’ve not been doing that, we’ve been dealing with ‘real life’ stuff. Still, this Sunday sees the start of our festival season as we’ll be playing in Lincoln at Groomfest:

Groomfest lineup

After that we’ll be playing a special warm up show (for Truck) at the Cellar in Oxford on Friday the 17th of July. Also playing will be BSM’s latest signing (and recent UK support for Brand New and The Manchester Orchestra); Kevin Devine and Alcopop signing; My First Tooth. This date also handily coincides with the celebration of the birth of both Kev (BSM) and Jack (Alcopop), so big smiles all round.

Unfortunately we’ve had to cancel our appearances at Summer Sundae Fringe Festival and Rapturefest. It’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly, but some of the guys in the band have had personal stuff come up in August that means we won’t be able to play. We will however, definitely be playing Y-Not Festival (as you can see in the post before this).

Hopefully we’ll soon have some news about a tour we’ve got coming up later in the year. Keep your eyes peeled.

Until we speak again, why not listen to the acoustic version of Baboon we recorded for the lovely chaps at http://tapes.jellycast.com/files/audio/tapes_4_master.mp3
