Crash of Rhinos have put up some songs from their new album online for people to listen to. You can check them out here.

This is the second album of a band called Adebisi Shank

…and it sounds incredible! I suggest you buy it from Big Scary Monsters when it comes out on Friday.

Haven’t done one of these in a while. This afternoon I gave these guys a listen and so far I’m pretty impressed. Could be that I’m just feeling in the mood for some rawk today, I’m not sure. They’re working for me though. The band is called Fordamage and apparently have some kind of link to Fago Sepia and Pneu (who are also ace), but I’m not sure how. It could well be a lie. Anyway, they’re all good so give them a listen. They all have my stamp of approval :-)

…with Mark Wilden for Oxfordbands.com. There’s some pretty tricksy editing going on, but most of what I said is about right…I think. Anyway, give it a spin if you’re into that kind of thing.

Hi,

So before we went to the States, we played some shows. One of those shows was in Sheffield, where we played with Pirouettes and Clever Girl. Both bands were great, and since then I have been informed that the latter have released an EP. You can download it from their myspace page and if you like it, you can donate a little bit of cash. I think that if you like Sweep the Leg Johnny, American Football and Colossal, you’re probably going to dig this a lot.

Speaking of Sheffield, we’re going to be playing a couple of festivals this weekend. The first is at Truck Festival, where we’ll be playing the Last.fm stage on Saturday at around 4.20 in the afternoon. The second will be on Sunday in Sheffield at Tramlines Festival. It is free and we will be on the New Music Stage at 5. We’ll be playing with Grammatics, Rolo Tomassi and Gallows. Should be fun.

See you swoon.

We’re back!

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Sorry for the loooooong time between updates. We got back from the states a few weeks ago and everything has been a bit hectic since. Anyway, I managed to cobble together some video footage from the tour. It was one of the best things we’ve done as a band. Almost all the gigs were incredible and we’ll be doing our utmost to get back asap.

That being said, it’s now important for us to lock ourselves away and try to write a new record. It’s been nearly two years since Animals was released and we’re desperate to do something new. We’ve got Truck Festival coming up and perhaps one other festival up north somewhere (more news on that if/when it’s a bit more confirmed) and then that is it until we can get some new tracks together that we’re happy with.

Fingers crossed we won’t be gone for too long.

Elk moustaches

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Jamie found this while we discussed ideas for our next promo photos. It’s pretty incredible:

Do you play trumpet?

Friday, May 7th, 2010

So we thought it would be fun to play Elk. Do you play trumpet? Do you live in America? Do you know how to play Elk on your trumpet? Do you want to play Elk with us at one or more of our US dates? Yeah?! Awesome! Get in touch:

thistownneedsguns@hotmail.com

Would be helpful if you could send us a link to a youtube video or something of you playing Elk, but if you can’t manage that then just get in touch. We’ll give it a bash in soundcheck and if it sounds ok, we’ll go for it in the show. This should generate some interesting results, but whatever happens I’m sure it’ll be fun.
